Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)

Once a business has a valid A-rated Skilled Worker sponsor licence it can begin the process of sponsoring workers. A worker can be sponsored for up to a maximum of 5 years at a time if they are eligible under the immigration rules.

To sponsor a worker who is already in the country, the sponsor must first apply for an allocation of Undefined Certificates of Sponsorship with an explanation of why the businesses need them. Out of this allocation, an Undefined CoS can be assigned to an in-country worker by filling in the job and applicant details and paying the fee.
